I am a travel and nature photographer based in Devon in the United Kingdom. Although my work encompasses all aspects of travel photography, I specialise in natural landscapes.
Completely self-taught, my photographic style has developed organically through capturing images of the natural and urban environments that I have visited on my travels. I favour in-camera technique over post-processing manipulation, and aim to capture natural and authentic atmospheric images to show the diversity of nature and culture around the world.
I have been taking photographs for as long as I can remember. Starting on cheap disposable film cameras, I was fascinated by what would come back when the film was developed. It was not until my last year at school, when I took up A Level photography, that I really got hooked and decided to pursue it as a career. This was also helped by my passion for travel and I knew the two would make a great pairing.
One of the most incredible, and demanding, trips that I have done to date, was when I worked as the official photographer for the Great Spas of Europe nomination for World Heritage status by the Czech government. I photographically documented the 23-day evaluation mission by Icomos (International Council on Monuments and Sites), which spanned 11 towns and cities in 7 countries across Europe. You can see a selection of images from the trip in my “projects” tab.
One question I am asked regularly is “where do you want to go next?”. Every time, I struggle to answer as there are far too many places to visit and see, and many different subjects to photograph. But a few of my bucket list locations would be photographing humpback whales in Tonga; sharks in the Bahamas; the tribes of Papua New Guinea; the penguins and seals of South Georgia; and cultural festivals in India and Nepal.
